X Winery and Amicus Cellars has always been committed to protecting the environment. This philosophy is demonstrated by our use of advanced methods of sustainable viticulture and winemaking.

We support farmers who use sustainable methods of winegrowing. We support farmers who use sustainable methods of winegrowing. The concept of sustainable viticulture integrates three overlapping goals: environmental health, economic profitability, and social and economic equity.

Barrels

X Winery is part of the TerraCycle program in which our used barrels are recycled and turned into composters and rain barrels used by homeowners throughout the USA. In addition, we recycle and refurbish all of our old barrel racks.
Winemaking & Production

We use 70%-80% recycled glass which is produced right here in the USA (Washington & California). In addition, our 2007 vintage wines will be corked using FSC-Certified corks.The winery also contributes some of its wine waste products to the Green Energy Network, a bio-ethanol company in Northern California. To reduce consumption and emissions, our delivery company uses hybrid trucks to transport wine to accounts in Northern & Southern California.

CCOF Certified

We are a member of the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) and are currently in the process of certifying our two crush facilities in Napa. We are also encouraging our grower partners to become CCOF certified members when possible.
